1. There is no full-tractor service manual for the JD-H from Deere Publications. But you have two choices to select from.a. There is the JD-4 (From PRIMEDIA, Inc) which is a Consolidated Shop Service Manual dealing with several Models. You find the area of interest and then dig out that part pertaining to the Model "H" tractor. Sources include your local JD Ag Dealer, eBay and most after-market parts sellers.
b. The other (prefered book) is a John Deere Model "H" Service Guide, a service manual with added helps & tips to guide the way, and is dedicated to the "H" tractor. There is no weeding out of "H" applicable data from among data for other models. Source is www.jdhpubs.com, or by calling 830-627-0430. 2. A multitude of references will indicate to you that SM 2000 is THE service manual for your tractor when, in fact, SM 2000 is a specialty technical manual which does not cover much of ANY tractor. It has four chapters, and its strong point is the chapter dealing with electrical systems for JD tractors & engines. Don't buy thinking it is THE service manual for your JD-H.
3. For Deere Publications OMR2011 & PC304, the one steady source for Deere Pubs (800) 522-7448. JD Ag Dealers are another, along with (perhaps) your after-market or used parts supplier.4. The John Deere Model "H" Restoration Guide, 2nd Edition was composed by a dozen authors, and includes data garnered from Sales Brochures, Field Service Bulletins, Older Deere Publications now no longer available, and years & years of experience with this model tractor.
5. The John Deere Model "H" Carburetor Overhaul & Inpsection Guide was prepared especially for this tractor based on the enormous amount of questions appearing on the Internet talk forums. It was very interesting to learn of the similarities between those carburetor anamolies reported by "H" owners to those reported by owners of other models using single barrell induction carburetors. Thus, this Carb Book will be useful to anyone dealing with carb grief on two cylinder John Deere Lettered Series tractors.
